Close up fangs

Close up fangs

Postby MrG » Sun Apr 22, 2012 11:48 pm

My son caught this nice size Rinkhals close to the house. I decided to take a few close-ups of the fangs. Enjoy.
Nice and big

Wow! I'm sure that hasn't been done before, amazing shots!
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.

Thx, he was very docile. My son handled him and I just got in close while he was lying on the ground. Used my Canon 600d with MP-E 65mm macro lens and twinlight flash. Those fangs are not more than 2mm. Wanted to get the small hole where the venom comes out as in right fang image. He was not stressed and was safely released few minutes later. Next mission, fangs of Mfesi. :)

Pity you could not push back the mucous membrane a bit. I think you only got half the venom slit.

Now you have a project with any road kills you come across.
