My GTP

My GTP

Postby Zane02 » Fri Oct 04, 2013 10:21 am

I thought I would share a few pics of my Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis). I bought it as a youngster from Rudolph Louw, who in turn bought it from Graeme Lotter. It is the beautiful offspring from a Sorong x Lereh (Graeme's "Superbeast" line). He/she is turning a year this month so I will have expertly sexed soon.

A pic when Rudolph had her...

When I got her. Already a much paler, orange color...

The start of her color-change. I wish I had a better camera to record this!

After turning green...Love the blue markings and hoping the black will stay too!

Thanks JamesG! He is not relatively calm-he is COMPLETELY calm. I am increasing gentle handling now as he is turning a year old. But he has never been aggressive, defensive or even jumpy...Feeds like beast though!

Wow that's quite special, I know most GTP's aren't as chilled. Very cool ! :)

That 2nd to last pic is a bit misleading Leon. I think with my hand being further back it makes her appear bigger. The last one is a bit better to judge the size...Saying that- I am slimming her down a bit. A GTP is made to be a slim, agile little monster and I plan to keep her that way...

That GTP is a beauty! I love the black speckling, it looks very much like the mite phase ones I I have seen on overseas sites. Lets hope it keeps he or she keeps those colours!

Thanks Michael! I am holding thumbs for the mite phase colours to stay but I refuse to get overly excited by it. As you know, with GTP's you could wake up the next morning and the interesting colours are gone....

After another shed I decided to sex my GTP and results are in....It's a boy!! Now to find a suitable name. After the shed the green colour looks more vivid,as well as the blue. Pleased to say the black speckling "mite phase" is also still present....
