Platysaurus imperator.......

Platysaurus imperator.......

New member here from the Bronx, New York.
Figured id post a few videos of my Emperor Flat Rock lizard pair

Some older videos

shes mostley out between 3:30:00 and 5:00:00

Both start coming out at around 1:20:00 in

eating some grapes

And a newer one

If youve skimmed through the other videos its pretty apparent both the male and female base most of their time in and on the stack(but do use/explore the rest at times). The basking area also seems to be a bit too hot for the males total comfort, but the female digs it. All that in mind i decided to up the ambient heat(lows in the low to mid 80's) and add a couple other open basking options(120ish and 130ish). I also added more stacks to their "outcropping"
They seem to approve so im gonna leave things as is and continue to observe.

When the male is basking at 3:11:00 you can really see how impressive he is even with the crappy cam :)
If it wasnt for video i would have no idea what was going on with these guys. I never see them in real life :(

Recorded some cool tail waving behavior a couple nights ago

You can see the male do the tail wagging starting at 1:15:00 when the girl first pops out, but both the male and female do this tail wagging things a couple of times through out the vid.

Those are such nice lizards! It is a pity that so few people keep them locally.

When you say you havent seen them in a few months, is that because they are shy or what? Platysaurus typically are actually very curious in the wild and I have had them approach me within arm's reach.

Thanx for sharing and I hope they breed for you in the comng years.

By far the shyest lizards ive have ever kept. 100% empty cage syndrome.
