The food bowls were on the side right next to them, if they were after the food they wouldn't walk right over it to get to the owner.

It's very cool, i've seen a few videos now, another one where a Tegu is taken to a park for a walk, when the Tegu seems to get anxious it keeps going back to the owner trying to climb on him. It's quite odd, i'm a bit sceptical on whether they do really seek attention but I think it's pretty likely that they do from what i've seen.

It wouldn't surprise me if they are looking for attention, we still have a lot to learn about animals.

The reason I'm interested in this question is my little argentinian black and white tegu has started doing something similar where he climbs up my arm once I put food in for him/her and if I tickle him/her by his ear holes for a bit then he'll go back and eat otherwise he wont leave me alone! I'm not sure if he/she just likes the attention or if its because I smell like food.

Inneshealy! That is just damn damn cute!!! I've kept them yrs too, freaking amazing!! There is food out & all they want to do is climb on the owner... Didn't see one snapping at him at all, don't quite understand lizardlover saying feeding response??? Maybe he's feeding them on his neck??? Anyway keep socializing with your Tegu, encourage those kinds of behaviours...! How cool!!!
