I'm very impressed, this is how it should be done.

Why do all mambas have one or two scales that makes you think its a tick. Is this just to lure you close enough to get you?

I hope they calm down and stop the gaping thing. Close off the window with newspaper and then cut a window in that. Once a month you make the "window" a cm or so bigger all the way around. In that way they get used to you over time and then stop the mouth gaping.

That scale had me fooled as well haha...

Thanks for the advice Arno.Only one of them still gapes when I'm around (The one in this pic didn't like the flash hence the gaping),I'll try the newspaper method as I am currently using a couple of towels to do the job haha...

They seem to have settled down enough to notice each other over the last week or so...I opened the cage and this is what I found...It is clear that the males have sorted out who's who and the one was very interested in the female...They haven't mated yet but he's definitely trying... ;) ...It's still very early days tho...

Just a quick update for you guys.

After a lot of mating activity and interest in eachother the females unfortunately did not produce. But they've settled in extremely well and will definitely be ready to go this coming season.

And...They are pounding rats like only mambas can !

Thanks guys...

@mrVynes, if you are reffering to the same ones BV did earlier, they are usually a scale's tip that went missing, probably when they were caught/feeding but they do disappear/heal after a while as you can see in the more recent photos.

Awesome Louis... Stunning animals!
You know, you can touch a stick of dynamite, but if you touch a venomous snake it’ll turn around and bite you and kill you so fast it’s not even funny.

Awesome snakes and pretty much my favorite. Two of my females bred this year and last week the first to breed laid 6 infertile eggs. Huge bummer, but oh well. Hopefully something good comes from the second. I hope you have better luck breeding them next time. -Jamie
