Snake Charmer, I guess the money is simply a donation towards the time and fuel which the collector used to get the snake to this individual.

I'm just glad someone is looking at alternatives to poison. People often ignore the repercussions of using poison to kill an animal so low down in the food chain.

I think it's a great idea. A round of applause for Charlie!

Some people charge for call-outs or ask for a donation to cover their petrol and time. This guy is offering money to cover someones petrol and time to release on his property.
Can you really do that? Well, I just did!

Yeah. Very well done to Charlie for not using poison.By using snakes only one animal is losing its life. By using poison it would be killing numerous species such as cats, dogs, wild snakes, owls and other birds of prey. So a huge well done to Charlie for doing this.

Sorry, just to clarify, Charles does not want to keep the animals, or lock them up in a room. He wants them released IN his stable area, for them to roam free and decide themselves where to go, so he is not keeping them illegally. They are still free.

I am with Gaboon on this one....

There are more -than+ in this request. Neighbours, roads etc. He should rather get pest control to assist. If he has stables he might have horses. Mmmm hope they dont vang a skrik when seeing a snake.Lol

So how would pest control deal with the situation?

Rodents are pest and I would rather kill the rats and mice than letting a whole bunch of snakes loose on a property and they get killed or cause problems like i said already.
Colin please if you feel it is the way to, then go for it.
I, like Gaboon dont feel its the way to go, so respect our opinion!

In the kyalami area there are small holdings that have resident rinkhals that I know have been in one area for a period of many years without being a problem. Some even have names! The same is true of mole snakes although they are more inclined to roam around they often stay in one general area.

On a small holding it is quite possible to establish snakes that could have been killed off by previous tenants if you consider what "normally" occurs in that area. Chat to any of the old TSP personnel or even Mike Perry and you will be amazed at how many snakes were reported from the Kyalami area. Mike still has rinkhals roaming across his property which he does not bother to catch.

This argument can go on till the calves grow horns. As was said earlier. Good luck.

Argument?

I have had a rat problem in my roof for a while now and have finally called the exterminators. Upon request, they use a low level poison that will not harm the environment. This low level poison apparently takes a bit longer then the ruff stuff but animals can eat the dead bodies and will not die.
Though you guys might be interested. :)
