Can anybody confirm that this is true ?

Only a fool would admit that he is expecting a parcel of venomous snakes via post... without permit... If you deny knowledge of the parcel the authorities will have to prove your intent, and by the time warrants etc is sorted, communication etc has been destroyed.
However should the other party (sender) turn witness.... but I think our Judicial system might not be equipped to deal with this, which means people get off with less than a fine and a slap on the wrist....

The person that sent it though is usually the one hung out to dry.
Nobody is sticking out their necks to confirm/deny/object....

What saddens me it that often these folk are or have become more than just a username on a screen, their posts have often caused people like myself to look up to them.
Things like this just make me lose a bit of faith in the people who's writings I have often admired.

I really think this type of Posting degrades a wonderful forum like this. It is absolutely unnecessary.

Thank you westley
Gary Montague-Fryer AKA namaquaboy it is not your fault that you are certainly not the sharpest tool in the workshop but you are well aware regards my opinion of the illegal snake trade. If you think I would even consider allowing anyone to send me live animals via the post you are even dumber than you really are.
This is some silly childish “sting” operation that has blown up in your face. I can’t prove it but I believe that you and Naudé have a hand in it. Grow up both of you.

Oh Shaun now you have really not thought this through. Why would I (who live in Pretoria) post a parcel from Louis Trichardt just to have it picked up 40Km from where I live. If I wanted to set you up I would have posted a TOPS or at least a CITES animal from Pretoria and had you picked up with it in your hands.

I was contacted late on the Friday evening to ask if I knew the person who supplied the snakes. At that stage you had already been contacted and I still never mentioned any names.

I have no way of contacting you so where was I going to post the snakes to? Stop making accusations that just make you look really desperate. I have no interest in setting anybody up. What would I gain from this. I have a chequered past myself so why would I get involved in petty stuff such as this. I was also setup in a sting many years ago. I really have better things to do with my time.

I thought Gary lived In Cape Town so I doubt this is him anyway.

MMMM... IMO posting snakes to a person to set him up is so last century, not to mention lame.

If namaquaboy set you up, eish ... to drive from Port Nolloth to Louis Trichardt is, according to Google maps 1713km and will take 21 hours and 19min at speed limit. Or Pretoria to Louise Trichardt will be 369km and will take 4hours 33min.

Seems your are most likely to be caught with the snakes in a road block than being able to post it.

So Shaun, by no means do I say that you are not being set up as it is always a possibility, in this case I really hope the guilty gets tracked down. But honestly now, to travel these distances to set up a guy really doesn't make sense. And to me who does not know anyone on this forum personally, making accusations like this, really reflect a very low intelligence or high guilt, so think before you post!!! Unfortunately your name was on the receiving end, guilty or NOT, your name has been implicated and to just make wild accusations is not helping your case.

I'm on my second bowl of popcorn now, will wait and see if the TRUTH comes out.
