West Rand Herp Association

Myself, Cornelius and CLSmith have chatted with Bushviper and Bushbaby about opening a West Rand Herp Association.
We would not meet on the same days as the THA - allowing THA members to have the option to go to both meetings if they felt the need.

The idea would be that we cater for members in the Westrand and surrounds that cannot make the THA meetings because of distance etc.

We would like some feedback from sareptiles users in the Westrand and North Johannesburg.
1.) Who would be interested?
2.) How often would you want to meet. i.e - Once a month? Every two months?
3.) If anyone has any contact with a library, or a type of centre where we could have these meetings, please let us know. (You can pm me or Corne)
4.) Would you be interested in having a youth group? One that could be geared towards 13 year olds and under? This group could run at the same time. Or would you only want one group where adults and younger members are mixed?

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I will be interested only if it does not clash or be in competition with THA. Once a month is fine. I know that the camera club meets in a hall at Golden Age old age home (mr G could help)

Thanks Colinh. No, it won't clash or be any type of competition to THA.
We have already agreed with Bushviper that this will not happen.
We just want to get a feel for who would be interested in our area to make it worth while.

I will join as a member of the WRHA. I fully intended going to the picnic on Sunday and then something came up that I had to attend to.

Hi guys

Glad to see that there is some interest. We would like to have our first meeting around the 12th of March; this meeting will help us to see how, what and when. I will be in the Netherlands until the 5th so we can only do it on the 12th or later, we are open to suggestions. I will confirm a venue as soon as I know how many people to cater for.

Points to discuss in the meeting.

1.) Constitution
2.) Members and how to recruit more members
3.) Will we need a committee and who
4.) Where and when would be convenient for members to meet.
5.) Membership fee
6.) Suggestions from members

The first meeting for the WRHA will be held on Friday the 12th of March @ 19h30.

We will be having it at my residence in Strubensvalley, please pm me with your email address so I can send you the map & address and all the other details.
Drinks and snacks will be served.

We are still looking for a venue in the roodepoort/ northern JHB area for our future meetings. If anyone has some ideas please PM me or Cornelius.

Good day everyone, i am really keen on joining the WRHA as the THA is too far

Only problem is im a student and cant meet on Fridays, Saturdays.

How did the first meeting go by the way and how many members are there?

Believe it or not i have classes on Fridays for hours on end and am so tired usually that i hit the pillow as soon as i get home!
