The next expo should be around September at Kyalami. There is supposed to be one down in Durban in July.

Sorry for interupting the conversation and maybe changing it. But does any one else agree that
the expo at Kyalami seems a bit to noisy for the animals? some of them, last year, seemed a bit stressed more then the animals at the other expos? :?:

I love attending reptile expo’s and I am sure that Kyalami has its advantages as a venue, but at the risk of treading on some toes, I agree that it is much too noisy. I’m not saying that the organizers are not considering the animals’ welfare, but it is an odd choice for exhibiting animals that are prone to stress in a noisy environment? Just my 2 cents ...

I've never been there but it must be really loud to upset the snakes, because as far as i know snakes don't have such great hearing, wont it be irritating for the humans before its irritating for the snakes?

Its not the noise its the vibrations from the cars going round and round and round the whole day!
I saw allot or reptiles that were very stressed,it actually started annoying me as well a bit as the whole building slightly shakes.
I really think the expo should be moved, just for the animals sakes.
What a world....

Tony we could possibly pull one off by ensuring that Cape Nature are there and issue permits on the day. Otherwise they will have to pay deposits and then after the inspection issue the permits. Game auctions work in a similar way. It would cost some fancy negotiating though.

@Bushviper Do you think the market for reptiles is big enough in Cape Town?

@TonyK with enough marketing i think youd be surprised at how many people will come, i we can get a annual expo like that going with the same lower prices that we see at SOS etc I think the reptile community and awareness will definitely boom. There's a lot of herpers here in the cape we just dont know about each other :)

I would say an expo is a noisy place regardless of Kyalami Race Track or not....

Nobody really considers these things bothering the animals cause how can they.... It noisy wherever you go!!!!!

If you dont want a noisy environment and want to consider the animals, well then there probably wont be shows cause nowhere is ideal for the animals at expo.

I will be a exhibitor at the next exo-terra show, Have some nice panther chameleons and others for sale that time

Kyalami shows (Exo-terra shows) moved into the October months now.

And yes they are all on permit.
