Permit matters - information / help needed

Postby Pelamis » Mon Sep 13, 2010 7:44 pm

Can anyone shed some light for me on the following scenario: Lets assume I can get two File snakes (or any other type of snake from another province than Gauteng) from a supplier in Kwazulu Natal, can I import (into Gauteng) and export them (from KZN) with the necessary import and export permits and then once in Gauteng, obtain a keeping permit for them??

Any information on this matter / question will be of very much help indeed.

Looking forward to many replies ;)

Yes once you have export permits from KZN it is very likely that you will get permits to import them and keep them in Gauteng.

KZN permits usually take 7 - 14 working days and cost R50. Not sure of the Gauteng prices.

So long as there’s a valid export permit for the snakes I don’t see why Gauteng wouldn’t issue an import permit and a permit for you to keep the snakes in captivity.

Contact Gauteng nature conservation and ask them before you go spend money.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.
