Northern Cape permits

Postby Bushviper » Thu Oct 09, 2014 10:44 am

Nobody should ever complain about permit for the Northern Cape ever again.

I had a sudden job come up and needed a transport (import, export permit) for snakes I use in training. I got a number and phoned it. Firstly they answered (unlike most permit offices). I got put through to Marietjie Smit and she answered straight away unlike other permit offices I have dealt with. She told me exactly what I needed and sent me an email partially filled in already. When it did not go through she emailed it from her personal account as well.

She referred me to Leon Muller who explained the permit conditions etc to me. He also answered his cell phone straight away. He basically said if I comply with certain conditions the permit should be granted.

I filled out the forms and sent them last night. It cost me R50 unlike other places who charge R200 and then after 6 months you are still waiting.

This morning at 09h11 while checking emails I saw I received my permit. Now you tell me where you will get better service than that.

Take a bow Northern Cape nature conservation.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

That is very good service, well done to them!! I recently dealt with North-West to get the same import export permit for a presentation in Pilanesberg. It was very challenging to get the permit, but I succeeded in the end after much frustrations.

Thank you Arno we try to still deliver a service of a high standard but sometimes we still run into issues and then it might take a bit longer

Great story! Glad they where quick. I unfortunately cannot vouch for them when it comes to other permits reptile permits specifically related to photography/research. Unless they have more competent people handling that side of it now. In the old days (1998) they where extremely efficient and i used to get my permits within 2 hrs!!
