Where to take your sick snake???

Postby gmoth » Mon Jul 18, 2005 10:53 am

Hi
I am aware this isn't a questions, but just incase one of your reptiles becomes sick, and you are not sure who you can trust when treating your reptiles, i found the two veterinarians below to be very good in treating snakes.

1. Village Vet (Parkhurst)
Dr M Verseput
880-3336
8803342

2. Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital (Onderstepoort)
Dr Van Wyk or Dr DeLaRy
012 529 8105

Thank you Gav.

I just added this forum this morning, and would like a list of reptile vets. This is a good start.

Welcome to the forum.

I've took my reptiles to Onderstepoort too. I've never met Dr van Wyk & the other one rings no bell but I do like Dr Elliot from Onderstepoort. She's helped me through alot of crisis'

In Boksburg try 011 9179978

Dr Cliff Bull. He used to keep and breed snakes so he has far more interest than most.

Your best bet in Maritzburg is to contact Dr Mark Penning who is the CEO of Ushaka marine world. He could either help you or advise you. Very helpful person too.

I can recommend Dr Mark Kallman of Helderkruin Veterinary Clinic. 011 764 2542.

He is not too far from Randburg and of course is in Roodepoort.

Dr. Charles Niebuhr - (012) 998 4314

Serene animal clinic, Serene str. Garsfontein Pretoria (corner of Serene and Issi Smuts str)

He is not a reptile specialist but he has experience with pet snakes and is willing to help with venemous snakes... as long as you can control the 'sharp end' :-)

Only guy in the PTA east area Ive found willing to even allow a venemous snake in his practice... :(

When it rains it pours :-)

Found another vet in the PTA east area...

Dr. J. van Deemter
486 Judith str. Waterkloof Glen
(012) 993 2315
Keeps snakes himself and has worked at a snake park before, so he has first hand experience with venomous snakes, he is very willing to help...

Hi guys

I have a wonderful animal clinic in Krugersdorp. I actually drive there 30-45min when any of my pets get sick or just need a check-up. These doctors has given me very good advise and will keep on going to them as long as I stay in the West-rand.

Rant-en-Dal Animal Clinic

011)660 3119

ask for either Dr. Gareth or Dr. Delport
