Iguana was constipated .....

Postby OLIVETAVARES » Mon Jun 22, 2015 1:33 pm

Hallo

My iguana was constipated a while back, but luckily he is fine now. But he lost weight. He eats like a monster but does not seem to be gaining weight.

I give him butternut, baby marrow, green beans, parsley (occasionally), beet, apple, carrots, papaya, broccoli, and he gets a supplement powder every second day.

What more can I do.

Hi! I'm not an iguana guy, but have you considered deworming him and/or taking him to a vet for a checkup? If he's not gaining weight back, the underlying problem could still be there, and you're being given a window to fix it.... Good luck!

Hallo guys/gals, I took my iggy to an reptile owner yesterday. He looked it through and told me that my iggy is a little dehydrated and I bought another light and some Iguana food and a booster I put in his water daily. he also told me that we can almost feed him anything he will eat. Then we went to Fruit & Veg City and bought allot of food for him. Baby marrow, water cress, pietersielie, pumpken, butternut, sweet potatos, pear, apple, papaya, carrots, beetroot, that packets with the different lettuce in and a few other food.

I mixed all that together and sprinkle a few of iguana pellets over the food. And the tonic in his water since yesterday.

I don't know if I'm imagining stuff but today he is already walking around the cage more than he used to. He is more interested in his surroundings than before. He climbs into his bowls and goes like from the one to the next and back. Usely he was lazy and I think not feeling 110%. But hopefully he will get better now and pick up some weight. As soon as he is looking better I will post some pictures of him. He is about 6-8 months old.

Me and my hubby are already planning for his bigger enclosure. And if all goes well it will be set up in the following week.

Good news! It sounds like he is in good hands.
