I have a female Ball Python just over a year old - she is healthy, eats like a pig and has perfect sheds - problem is she hasn't pooped in about 2 months - should I be worried?
Wat i normaly do is i put them in a tub with more cold than hot water for about 30min to an hour.I think that softens the poop it works for me,+ope it works for you.
We always soak our compacted snakes in lukewarm water. This helps stimulate bowel movement ... and voila ... the shits follow!
There was however a Burmese Python who was very much compacted (I was on maternity leave at that point in time, so it wasn't noticed by the contract staff member in time) - tubed with glycerine ... poopsie poops!
Thanks for all the tips - all my other snakes have also always waited for a nice clean tank but not this Ball! - I have tried the soaking thing and also no go - I am going to try and take her to Onderstepoort this morning - better safe than sorry!
Just got back from Onderstepoort - a large white "urine plug" seemed to be blocking up the whole system - all the rest of the poop was pushed out and all seems fine - they did test for bacteria but all is clean - so lets hope my problem is sorted out - i would just like to know how one can avoid this?
The little excercise cost me R220.00 - bit of a ripoff for what was done, but I at least know my BP is healthy and that my other snakes won't be catching any bugs!
Temps in tanks are about 29 on warm side down to about 25 on cooler side.
