R220 is not that much if you consider what the snake is worth. Rather a healthy and happy snake, than a unhappy or dead one.

Glad it's okay.

My thoughts exactly - would have also paid double that just to make sure all is fine!

An observation I have made is that snakes heavily laden with poop will often defecate if introduced to another snake of the opposite sex.
If you have a pair and keep them seperate try this as another less reliable option. My Ammodytes reguarly poop when put in together , often once they are seperated again and returned to thier enclosures

LOL
LOL
nevermind!!!
I did that soaking thing, and after about 10 minutes the water cooled down (this was in my sister's bathroom. i'm only 15, still living with parents), then after 10 minutes i decided to take it to my bathroom and soak it further in new warmer water. while drying the ball python with a towel in sister's bathroom, he let it all out. KABOOM, over the towel, over my pants, on the floor....

THANX GUYS!!! IT WORKED FOR ME!!

Hey EkSkynHeilig,

Glad this worked for you - whats amazing is, that the more people you speak to, the more you find who are sitting with the same problem - we must be doing somthing wrong - maybe feed the mouse some All-Bran before feeding him to the snake! :-P On a serious note though - I have kept many Balls over many years and this is the first time this has been an issue - there must be someone who can give some advice. :?:

This is usually caused by dehydration. Even if there is a water bowl in the cage that does not mean the snake is drinking. Tropical species will often not drink from standing water unless they happen to "bump" into it. Water bowl with high sides can stop them from drinking too. Snakes never go "uphill" to find water.

If you have this problem soak your snakes once a month in summer and twice a moth in winter.

Thanks Bushviper, that is one thing that I had not considered - will try a smaller "lower" water bowl.

i've also found some of my snakes drink very little water so i inject the frozen/thawed mice with some luke warm water. this seems to help a lot. it cant do any harm

a buddy of mine sometmes injects the mice with a product called "rehydrate" or something like that. its a powder sachet that dissolves in water. i prefer to use normal water though

You made the right decision taking her in. Better some lost money than a lost pet. Glad it all turned out well!!!
