Iguana Diet

Postby imperial exotix » Thu Jul 18, 2013 6:47 pm

Hi,
I was hoping to get some info on greens that go well with iguanas. I have done my fair share of research but most food lists seem to be geared towards the UK and USA. If some of you guys could post a list of greens you feed your iguanas that would help allot.
I have read on the forum that mustard greens are hard to find in S.A, is they maybe a more common name in South Africa for "Mustard greens" From the pictures I have seen it looks similar to spinach so maybe it is a different species.

Thanks in advance

Quick search on the forum and I found this great article written by a local keeper.

Please search before asking.

Thanks for the reply. I did search the forum and read multiple care sheets. My main question was regarding mustard greens because almost all the care sheets and iguana diets I read recommend mustard greens and collard greens as a staple but I cant seem to find any.
I have asked for a list of foods that local people feed just out of curiosity.
Currently I feed a mixture of the following:
Butternut
Green beans
Rocket
Parsley
Carrot
Apple
Spinach
I am forgetting another one or two but I mix and match these everyday.

Hi Aadill. We normally chop up baby marrows and patty pans,(green and yellow). They are always available from spar. Sweet potato can also be added in small quantities. Meals are supplemented with iguana cal.
