Ball Python not eating

Postby lionell » Tue Aug 21, 2012 12:26 pm

I have a problem with my Ball Python (1year & 8 month old male) not eating. He was eating fine but for the last 6 weeks he doesn't want to eat at all. Is that common or not?

If all environmental conditions are being met, yes this can be normal.
BP's are quite famed for doing this.

I stand corrected, but breeding season may otherwise trigger this.

I have the same problem with my ball python. I bought them about 4 months ago. The one eats fine, but the other one has not eaten since I got them. I don't know why this is so hoping I can get some answers on this forum as well.

Even though we control the temps in our cages etc, apparently the snakes can still tell what time of year it is in relation to seasons. If your snake is still in good condition then dont stress too much as it should begin to eat normally as things warm up again. Snakes are starting to breed already, and ive noticed mainly our male snakes are skipping their feeds while in mating mode.

They want to be lean and mean
Is it on complete ignore mode, even if pre-killed food is present? Or is it just not striking at prey.

If your male is in breeding mode, he'll decline any offer of food. Live, F/K or F/T...it wouldn't make a difference.
