Snake found ID please

Good Day
So one of my friends dad went on holiday and when he got home he found the following snake in his room,
Now the question is what snake is it? i have only seen this pic of it going tomorrow to properly identify it.
from the pic it looks like it is a Californian king snake but i may be incorrect so please correct me if i am wrong.
As said this snake was found so if it does by some chance belong to you tell me the area you stay in and if its the same area as it was found i will return it to you for a small petrol charge.

Yup, Cali King for sure.

Probably a neighbour's escaped pet. Maybe he can slip a pamphlet under the neighbours' doors saying he found a pet snake. If they can name species and size they can have it back.

great thanks Westley spoke to him he said yeah it belonged to the people that use to stay in the back room at his dads place. He thinks maybe they left it there to try scare his parents so he decided he will probably keep it if his wife allows him to. Once again thanks Wes

I can't seem to understand how snakes can escape at all, unless being kept in fish tanks.

Yeah I fully agree. But in this case I think is was set free to try scare the owner of the property. Because he is very scared of snake would not even go into the house after he saw it.

Yeah some people are really stupid why release a exotic animal I my own opinion I think it is one of the stupidest thing that a human can do.
My friends wife will not allow him to keep it so I guess I am making space for a new snake in my collection. Thanks for all the comments ladies and gentlemen
