Of all the critters we've got here in SA, I'd be hard pressed to narrow it down to just one I'd like to find.... But up near the top of the list would be the humble Fisks Housie, L. fiskii.

JP you used up your points.

Mine would be an amelanistic puff adder.

I would not say no to finding Bitis heraldica AND THEN leaving it behind after photographing it.

I must be honest, I can't narrow it down to one!!!
My dream is to one day have photographed all known and of course unidentified reptiles in Southern Africa.
BUT, for know my goal is to find all the reptiles of the Western Cape, and I'm actually surprised as how far I've come in 6 years.

The fun fact is that we have 6 Bitis sp., 6/6 Lamprophis sp., 2 Naja sp., and hordes of amazing Pachydactylus sp. in our 'valley'... and those are just the known facts!!

very exciting indeed. Got me all amped up to go & find something. Have to probably agree with Sam the most here. finding anything you've never found before is an absolute thrill. John, I would be over the moon if I had found an Aurora, never had the chance either. & If I do ever manage to find Lamprophis Fiskii, just like BV I will photograph it, leave it be & then just walk away. :)

Jp, boet, I would have been in tears after finding such a beautiful snake DOR. For me it would have to be L.fiskii or an amel or other morph of M.capensis. Ps. If you still have that snake preserved I would love to see it in the flesh.

You're on TonyK. I will let you know when I am planning a WC trip LOL!

Of course the L.fiskii must be one of the Holy Grails in SA surely?! It would take a brave herper to walk away from one Dean. I would be impressed!

Any reptile is an exciting find. I agree with Fooble, I would love to find a new Pachydactylus species out there. A new Corylid would be a dream as well. As for described species Bitis inornata would be at the top. I want to find every Bitis caudalis locality in exsistence as well though...

I am in America (Florida Everglades to be exact) at the moment. Saw my first American Alligator today, so any new species is awesome to find.

And I want to find it crossing the road, one quiet Friday night in Durban so I can have a few drinks at the local pub afterwards.
