Is there anyone who knows where I can get a baby Indian Mynah in the Gauteng area?

I suppose if you're really desparate you can catch one from the wild, although captive bred would be preffered, I doubt you would find many as they are indeed a pest. As far as I understand, Exotic animals that have established themselves in SA can be legally caught without any permits. Is this wrong?

I doubt anybody breeds Mynah birds. They are a pest. Go find a nesting pair and shoot both the parents. They will attack you if you dont do that. Take the baby and hand rear it. I know it sounds cruel but they are messing up the environment and need to be eradicated.

It is now illegal to trade in Indian Mynah as they are listed as Category 3 on the latest NEMBA list.

Category 3 means that you can own this species, but you may not transport, breed, sell, trade, donate or accept as a gift.

I. Hate. those. bluddy. birds.... I condone their wholsale slaughter... if I owned a gun, there would be none left in our neighborhood.

I DO however understand people keeping them as pets, they have attitude, and talk EXTREMELY well, make cool pets, but not in the wild... I despise them in the wild...

Or just become a Falconer and hunt them with an African Goshawk or Gabar Goshawk - GREAT fun. One of my hawks took 24 mynas in an hour back in the days when i was still young and flew hawks out of car windows - now i just fly Peregrine Falcons.

Yes and lots of fun. I used to sort out jackal and vervet monkeys with my Crowned Eagle (Queen) ..... lots of different birds for different applications!!
