Coconut Husk issues

Postby Wildlos » Mon May 27, 2013 9:35 pm

I have a Brazilian Boa and have been using coconut husk as the primary bedding. Problem is that after about a week or two I get small silver colored bugs. Is this coming from the coconut husk due to the excess moisture needed for my BRB? Or is this coming from another element? Also is there reusable substrate i could use that would be safe for my BRB. She is 3 yrs old at 3ft long in a 50 gallon tank. Thanks any help would be appreciated. :?:

0-1 Brown House Snake
2-3 Ball Python
1-1 Western Hognose
1-1 Kenyan Sand Boa
3-2 Corn Snake
0-0-1 Bosc Monitor
0-1 Taiwanese rat snake

Lillypod is spot on. Or u could bake it in the oven or boil in boiling water and cool it down before using.
