Wait is the south african violin spider the same as the american brown recluse spider? I have seen first hand bites by american brown recluse spiders and some can be quite nasty and horrible. Definitely an animal that you should avoid.

puzzled -----why call it a violin spider ?------where is the violin ? markings are not too clear on foto-
