Try to get him to work with indigenous snakes too. Anacondas do give off a very strong smell but no other indigenous snakes smell like this.

If you are using Rinkhals, cobras and puff adders make sure they are in mesh wire cages inside another wire cage so the dog does not get bitten. Make sure the snake is not just tracking your smell either so walk all over the place and leave the snake in one place and continue walking up and down so that he does not cheat.

I hope this works out well. Please keep us posted.

I do put the hots in a fine wire mes like cages, and diferent poeple takes them and hide them away, while to dog is inside and we do walk al over. Then we give him a bag thats full of sheddings to smel and of he goes. He does seem to find them faster after its rained compaired to when its dry, and today he found a Night adder aswel that we did not include.
Thankyou

Yes he dit but he seemed a bit more scared of it than the rest, but i think the reason is that the Night adder was very agresive

A Dogs smell is amazing.

To get dogs to work they need some kind of reward. Either food(which is not recommended) or play(toy etc).

When recue dogs are selected they go for the puppie that has the highest play rate with toys. They are easier to train because of the reward factor.

I saw the Jack russel yesterday. He is a beauty and they are in general good in sniffing out snakes. They also kill them. But under supervision he should be fine.

Just start the reward thing asap otherwise he is going to do his own thing.
