Cat trap

Postby SABOAMAN » Wed Oct 10, 2012 4:15 pm

Hi I'm looking for a cat trap. If someone in the Pretoria region has one that I can borrow. Please inbox me.

At the complex we stay there is a problem with a cat spraying this one house. It is so bad that when entering the house you want to gag from the smell. To say that the lady is upset about the situation is an understatement.

We would like to catch the culprit and hand it in at the SPCA, there is apparently a fine system if you hand in a problem cat there.

Any help would be appriciated

Does the cat spray inside her house? How does that happen if it isn't her cat? Catching the cat seems childish - rather find out who owns the cat and speak to them direct;y about it.

I found a good Dog works well in situations like this, the cat stays away cause it knows.

Zeiphex Unfortunately if the cat sprays it means its not fixed yet, and thus will carry on doing so. Speaking to the owner as 90% of cat people will ask you "what must I, he is a cat, he goes were he wants "

Thats why I don't Like cats. they are also extremely hard to teach, my dog learned fast the cat is stupid.

This house has two fixed male cats so the house is open for them. This other male sprays the house, but badly. The lady with the complaint say its a grey cat. In the complex there are two grey cats. To speak to all the cat owners do not work, sms the residents of the complex gives little or no results and most if not all cat owners claim their little angels never spray and is kept indoors.

The other reason the culprit must be catched is to identify the owner.

@monopeltis, thanks for the link I will go have a look.

Haha! Brilliant! Problem solved!
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.

The best solution here is to fit a pet door that will only allow the owners cats to enter the property. There are pet doors that have RFID readers on them that will only open the flap if a pet wearing a collar with the matching RFID tag approaches the door.

If you contact the SPCA in Watloo they can put you in contact with a guy who rents out cat traps.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I did phone Watloo SPCA and got a number from them but the number is a fax number, thats why I posted on the forum.

I had a look this morning, at the pet door systems working with a magnetic tag. I also spoke to the owner about this option, and she is keen to try it. The question will be how to install it at the flat. The complex we stay at, the garden side is full glass with a heavy slide door and this is the only entrance her cats use. The other door is at the kithcen. This is wood but on the driveway. Will see her tonight and give the options.

Thanks for all the feedback :D

I rented a cat trap from a guy who volunteers at 'friends of the cat' in PTA... I got a number from their website and asked for help catching a stray...
