Can anyone ID this?

Postby Lillypod » Thu Feb 07, 2013 7:38 am

Hello everyone, this was on my aunts facebook:

Dankie ouens!"

Quick translation to English: She found this weird little thing on a rock she bought in Margate. It looks like a Venus flytrap fossil and she would like a positive ID if anyone can help, even guesses are welcome. The rock came from a goldmine.

looks like Pray Mantis eggs
You know, you can touch a stick of dynamite, but if you touch a venomous snake it’ll turn around and bite you and kill you so fast it’s not even funny.

Thanks, I learned something today.

Egg case of a praying mantid. Had a female stick mantid (Popa undata) lay her case, which was purple, on my curtain.
