Importation of an African Lungfish

Postby damiensharjah » Thu Feb 14, 2008 8:09 am

I was wondering if there are members out there with any knowledge regarding the importation of fish. I live in the UAE and have a medium-sized lungfish Protopterus anectans ssp. that hails from Nigeria. Apart from a cat, this is my only 'pet' as such, and I'd be very keen to take him with. Given the fact that this species is extant in Eastern Kruger and Mozies, I'm not sure what the status is regarding bringing such a beast into SA.

Any info, including addresses etc to contact, would be greatly appreciated.

Natcon are real stiff on fish lately and you need to have a permit even to bring in a gold fish. As for the lung fish i think it is on the black list if memory serve me rite so then it is a no-no.
