My retics growth!!

Postby Jamster » Mon Jun 20, 2011 10:29 am

I got my first proper snake snake last year february, after many years of fooling around and catching snakes in the bush as most reptile crazy people do.

I went all out and after a long discuccion with the parents they allowed me to get it. Ripcord cost me R800 and I was very pleased with her temprament and condition, she has grown like an absolute machine going from about 1.1m when I got her to her 3.5m now. Enjoy the pics :D

Before she sheds she is much darker and is much more orange and then she becomes much lighter and more yellow.

Getting a retic as a first snake takes guts. I am glad to see you are keeping her tame. Females dont become as grumpy as the males but do grow a bit bigger. You can slow down on her feeding at this stage to slow down the growth. She will also live longer on a meager diet compared with feeding as often as when she looks hungry.

I think it takes guts to get a 1.5 year old or older but if you have the snake from a couple of months when the snake is still big enough to fit in the palm of your hand It will me as a awesome first snake if you truly understand the size it gets and the husbury for the retic.

Great colouring! Where did you get her?
