Short time spent with these beauties [M. capensis]

Postby Rishaad » Tue Apr 28, 2009 9:23 am

I have wanted a pair of lightly coloured brazilian rainbow boas for quite some time now but could not find a nice light coloured pair here in KZN. I then decided to use the money to buy a pair of gorgeous file snakes. 2 days after my purchase I made a deal for a beautiful pair of brazilian's which involved swopping the file snakes and the buyer giving me a cash difference (many people might think I am crazy for doing this) but my initial plan was to get brazilian's first. File snakes are absolutely gorgeous because of their triangular shape, cute face, that amazing purple/pinkish colour and that gorgeous stripe down the back and hopefully I will get another pair in the near future. Unfortunately I only had them for 2 days and these are the only pics I took:

Those are such cool and beautiful snakes. I have never even seen one except for in pictures. Were these captive bred and still babies? Were they feeding on rodents?
Please will you PM me where you got them from.

They definately are beautiful. Yes these are captive bred and feeding on rodents. Its amazing how big they are even as hatchlings. They are very active but also very shy at the same time. Unfortunately they dont seem to like being handled and they are always trying to hide their heads away underneath their bodies. It feels so different holding a file snake than holding any other snake due to the body shape and very keeled scales. They are just amazing.

@ Rishaad - They too are georgeous but I would still have done the swop.
Besides, we know where to get them when we want them and as stated, the BRB's were your original first choice.

I'm definitely happy i did the swop ;)
i've wanted Cape file snakes for a very long time so i think it was a win-win situation for both myself and Rishaad.
