Unique call-out in the Vaal

Postby Kakibos » Tue Jan 06, 2015 8:10 pm

Hi guys well I had a wonderful start to 2015 regarding call-outs.
a Few months ago I heard that there was a small population of Dusky Bellied water snakes around the Vaal Triangle(for you guys who do not know, Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark and surroundings, Gauteng). I had my doubts as I have never came across one before.

Well as luck should have it today I got a call-out and on arrival I found a Dusky Bellied water snake (L. laevissimus): :D , man was I happy, my first ever.

Here are the pics enjoy!

Great stuff, nice find.
I found my first one in November this year, also a nice and big one like that.

Nice find, the head is quite reminiscent of an anaconda isn't it ?
