Rhombic Skaapsteker

Postby Davidc » Wed Mar 06, 2013 11:15 am

Managed to rescue a very young Skaapsteker from some guys that work at the stables where we keep my girlfriends horse. Obviously I dont want to release him their again so what are my options? I am concerned as he is still very small and winter is approaching. Will try to feed him first but what prey will he be able to take at such a young age?

Release the snake as close as you can to where it was caught. Keeping it in captivity does it no favours, these animals have been surviving winters for hundreds of years.

He stll has a good few weeks to catch food before winter. Rather let him go nearby, preferably where there are frogs or lizards.

I have released this little fella on a small holding away from the horses. At least there he will not be killed on sight.
