Bearded Dragon Heating/Lighting

Bearded Dragon Heating/Lighting

Postby DeanKoupe » Mon Jan 26, 2015 10:20 pm

Hi all

So I decided to upgrade and redo my beardie setup over the weekend.. And I bought some new lighting and heating globes.

The dealer recommended the following globes which I bought...

Exo Terra: Daylight basking spot 50W (Green box)
Exo Terra: Repti Glo 5.0 UVB 20W ( Green box)

Are these correct and efficient, or was I supposed to get the Orange desert box lights? Is there a difference between the green and orange boxes?

Any help and advice will be much appreciated

Thanks
Dean

Depends on the size of your set up, but honestly the basking lights are nothing special, you might as well get a spotlight for about thirty bucks from a hardware store as long as you provide UV. The only thing it does is provide heat, which is why ceramic heat emitters can be used too.

The tank is about the equal size of a standard 4 foot glass fishtank.. But it's the wooden terrerium version

Another question, are digital thermo hygrometers accurate, or is there others better?

You can play around with bulb wattage and ventilation, as long as your temperature is fine all is well.

The digital ones are more accurate yes.
