Came across this article and saw that the Mfezi seems to have been mistaken for a mamba.....

Yeah, if you live in a country with about five snake species I can't blame you, though it happens here just as much. I'd say that it's a hoax, and a mamba would not last twelve hours outside in London this time of the year.

I reckon the picture in the article is just a generic picture they grabbed off the interwebs, not the actual snake in question.

Yup, journalists will use stock photos but since they cannot ID the snake and that's what they got when they searched for 'black mamba', it must be a mamba.
