Gecko ( leopard )

Gecko ( leopard )

Postby Dakota » Thu Mar 16, 2006 12:23 pm

HI

I'm new at this so don't mind me asking a few questions.
I want to get a leo gecko but first I need to find out about a few things
What size is best to start off with?
Where can I find HEALTHY loe geckos? and the necessary equipment needed?
I know that you can see by the tails ( the thickness ) whether they are healthy or not, is that correct?
What temp is best? ( I know one half should be cooler then the other and that they should have at least three hidding places ).
I think I have covered the feeding part ( crickets ).

Thanks

Leopard geckos are by far not my region of expertise. I have only started keeping the little guys as well. Older Leopard geckos are probably easier to keep than small ones, so maybe a sub adult would be best to begin with.

There are a number of reputable breeders whom will sell their beasties. I dont recommend too many petshops in Pretoria area though. Possibly one of the other petshops outside Pta will be a better bet, although directly from a breeder would be best. Possibly Kynan from Gecko gangsters could assist you.
