Hi Kim,

Welcome to the forum.

That is a leopard gecko. They are insectivorous. I feed mine crickets and meal worms.

What are you keeping them in?

Thanks for the help... at the moment he (or she) is being kept in a really big cage made of wood with a removable mesh lid and no bottom, and gets taken out side on the grass in the cage a couple of times a day... I think it's the same cage she used to keep a tortoise in. Thanks Kim

Leopard Geckos are nocturnal, so it really wont appreciate being taken out into the sun.

You need to provide it with heat, about 28 degrees, a hide box and a moist box to help it shed it's skin.

Leopard geckos do not like to be kept too cold. Do not take it outside when it's not warm. They do not need sunlight like other lizards do, so it's not too important that they "sun" everyday. Rather get a cage that you can insulate better than the tortoise cage. They can succesfully be kept in the same type of cage that you would put a snake in.

leopard geckos are awsome pets and make great companions i have had them since i first strarted 2 get interested in reptiles. sometimes i feed them high grade dog food (that gets their tails really fat which is a good thing). I would recommend putting a small container in the cage full of culcium which they will eat themselves. A healthy leos tail should atleast be as thick as their neck also if it is under 6 months old u should feed it every day and over 6months u should feed it every second day and if it is under 6 months i do not recomend feeding it mealworms too often cause it could be at risk from gut infaction and if it is under 4 months do not feed it meal worms with the head(my friend had a case of the meal worms eating his leo inside out!)
Hope that helped
