I dont know all that much about geckos, apart from mine have never had anything like that. could his tank not have to much moisture? Maybe he had rubbed himself against his rock?

Either a shedding gone wrong or rubbing it's nose somewhere, i might be wrong though.

Looks like a fungus infection. What's the humidity in his enclosure?
