Please just look first because the above list IS NOT the food that you must give, it just shows the ratio. The site does have links to the correct diet.

Hi guys, just wont to show you how me and diesel are doing so far, is going grate. Last night I gave Diesel a bath without having to hold on to him, he got onto my arm by himself and I walked around the house with him like that, no struggle or running, but won’t say he’s totally comfortable just yet but think this is great for taming day 10. :-P

He still won’t take some treats from me but I keep trying any way. ;)

Hallo all

Last night I had diesel in the bath again and on my arm, he looked much more comfortable last night but he started licking me again and bit my t shirt, but in a relaxed manner not a angry one. Why did he do this?? Is it to try and eat the t shirt or is this there way of exploring new things??

Iguanas are not the brightest of lizards. I have been called about them eating the silk decorations in a cage on a few occassions. Your shirt might have looked edible or smelled like something he would like to eat. They teach themselves to eat items which are really bad for them and then you cannot train them back to what they should eat.

Thanks bushviper

O haha guess it was the perfume because it smells like flowers, if he bites me on the arm what should I do? I know I should hold still but to teach him not to do so or teach myself, not to have a fright or humanly reaction which could hurt him??

That is a cool iggy, just keep at it and he will realise you arent a threat.

I've been at our home at Kruger.

The second photo of Diesel is him hiding away, if he goes black and hides often then you need to look around from his perspective to see what is scaring him like that - maybe it was just that once and it was your camera. Prolonged stress make them very ill.

Him biting your t-shirt is normal, I would not say that he tried to eat it, he is just testing if the t-shirt will bite back. When ever I wear something new my ig also checks it by biting it and then never pays attention to it again.

Concerning him biting you, 90% of the time your ig will first shake his head to show you that he does not like what you are doing. If you keep on bugging him then he might turn around and bite.

If he does bite you it will be really fast - they usually only hold on when they are in breeding season. After the bite take him firmly - turn him so he faces you and look him straight in the eyes with an angry face and say NO-NO-NO! You need to do the NO-NO action when he climes on your head, curtains etc. as well.

What are you offering as a treat?
