Pretty "Green" Iguanas.

Pretty "Green" Iguanas.

Postby Bushviper » Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:58 pm

Today I went to visit a friend and he showed me what he had been offered to re-sell but the paperwork would be too much of a hassle. I think they would be fairly sought after though.

Some reddish ones with beautiful bands and shoulder markings.

and such cutes faces

As adults they are still stunning

Then he popped my eyes out with this these specimens

or how about this handful?

Look how the sun shines right through the pure white one.

I must say I was tempted to try these lizards again but my record with Iguanas is not stellar and my bank manager does not like me after the reticulated python stunt I pulled on him.

Wow! Now those are not your every day garden variety iguanas!

Ive never seen the white ones before. Is it called a snow or leucistic or what? On that, do ALL true leucistic reptiles have black eyes?
I still far prefer the red ones.

Any pics of adult blue ones?

They are really amazing, nice pics! I remember the days when my iggy was young and docile. He recently entered breeding season and his color changed to a beautiful bright orange. It seems his nice docile "green" personality turned to "orange" time to die personality as well. He is super aggressive. Already got a nice bite just shy of stitches.

Every day when i let him walk around in my room (which is actually his room i think) he lunges at me from well over 4m. Holding him down just makes it worse lol. I love him nevertheless and will endure...

Thanks for the pics really interesting

paperwork would be too much of a hassle

This implies that he is not in SA.

BV, what was/is the price on those? Must really be an arm and a leg...

Thought I was the only one who had been savaged by a green iguana! I also have a mean male iguana (Gungi) who did give me 4 stitches not so long ago! Just shy of taking my finger tip off, only the nail saved it! I was not impressed with this leaf eater, it hurt like hell!

Yeah those guys are all in South America. I have seen bright blue ones locally as well as red ones. The blue ones died a few months after hatching and the parents were sold off. The bloodline should be in SA somewhere. The red ones I have no idea where they are at the moment.

The yellow ones and white ones are two different forms of albino. Both of them have reddish eyes.

They would cost about R40 000-00 a pair if you could get them here. I dont think they will be here for a few years.
