Sarels new sleeping hide

Sarels new sleeping hide

Postby cvanvollenstee » Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:11 am

Hello,

Recently I felt sorry for my Iguana Sarel See Monster for sleeping on a stick every night.

And I have noticed every time I take him for a bath that he loves the towel.

So I have decided to build him a tree house/hide where he can sleep comfortably.

I made the hide out of polystyrene, grout and some koi dam sealant paint and two wooden poles to keep it upright and stable.

See picture bellow he sleeps in there every night and it is a wonderful basking spot.

I think iguanas sleep in hollow logs in the wild too. I have seen those that live outdoors in winter will climb into a heated hide box at night.

You can also look at putting in thicker logs.

Yes thicker logs with chains hanging from the roof is my next litle project.

I want to get about 3 logs (about 20mm in diameter) and hang them at diffrent heights from the roof of the cage.

You can even go thicker than 20 cm (probably not mm) so that he can lie with his legs next to his body instead of hanging on.

I'm so glad I'm not the only "crazy" one here!!! My beardies have a baby blanket in their cages. Right now my adults are in brumation - cuddled up and covered with their baby blankets!!! They love it!

Yes I noticed they like it when I take mine for a bath and he always goes for the towel and fall asleep on it.
