Popularity of iguanas?

I started getting into lizzards a couple of years ago and like them more than snakes, although I keep both.
I currently have a bearded dragon, 2 blue tongue skinks, a veiled chameleon and a rock monitor.
What I do want to know is whether a green iguana will make a good lizzard pet. I went through the forum and it seems that there are mixed emotions about them. Would like to hear some comments from people actually keeping them.
And can u distinguish between males and females when they are still babies? If so, what sex should I get.?
