Hi there all I'm new to iguanas bought my first girl on saturday at the expo for R350 because her tail has been hurt before now to me it looks like that piece of the tail is dead it is about 3cm long that is pitch black, she has not been well looked after I have been advised to use f10 on her she also has about 3 other small black patches on her, and han not shed well either, will f10 help and what else can I do

I would take her to a decent reptile vet. This might end up costing you more than what you would have paid for a perfect specimen. Always buy the best quality animal that you can. Getting a cheap one might cost you far more in the long run.

In the mean time get her into dappled direct sunlight. I am fairly sure she has never seen proper UV light ever. That should help her to recover. The tip of the tail will just drop off by itself. F10 is not going to help.

If you are worried about the iguanas health take it to your nearest reptile vet he/she will give you the most accurate answer and provide proper medical treatment if needed.

Some sunlight, good supplementation (vitamin and iguana cal with D3) and the correct diet should help alot. The Tail should just dry and drop but watch that it does not become infected and just keep moving up the tail.

The best would be to get her to a exotic vet for a decent check up and get her dewormed.

Who regulates what gets sold on the expo's ? Seems more and more injured and sick animals comes from the expo's. Surely someone needs to check whats for sale.....

She has eaten crickets but prefers the salad bought her super worms today but she doesn't look interested, salad is gone quick

As far as I know iguanas should not eat ANY insects, only plant matter, thus just the salad.

Never feed green iguanas insects as too much protein will cause kidney problems down the line.

I would suggest you look for a good book on Iguana care.
