Hi just would like to share my setup of my caiman. This is it


Im happy it took its first thawed pink today. Ive trained it to come to me by whistling when feeding and to take from forceps. It took its first pink out of the foceps. This is the lil guy, not sure of the sex its still to young to sonar.

Sorry for jacking the thread a little , can someone please give me a bit more info on keeping dwarf caimans, how big they get etc, a link, any info? I would like to know a bit more about them and I can't seem to find alot of info on the internet.

The best on website on size and distribution is http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/cnhc/csp_ccro.htm but care sheets are few and far between. Basic husbundry for spectacled caiman apply for all dwarf caiman as far I know. Cuviers dwarf caiman in captivity only get to 1.4m for male and females to 1.2m not sure about the other dwarf caiman.

Thanx every 2 weeks I stock it up with guppy fish as well so he/she can catch its own fish when its feels a little nibbly. I also feed it once a day so it can grow a little faster, when it reach about 40cm I'll start feeding less.

Looks good, what is that substrate he is sitting on, if it is bits of stones be careful with the heat, it can get very hot.

Buck its filter sand its got a basking spot shinning directly on a rock but its mostly to heat up the air around.
Rob he/she spend 95% in the water which means the water temp is perfect.

For some reason i cant find my post anymore with my setup. The Caiman drowned though and i now have a nile croc in the tank.
If your caiman outgrows that cage, i might want to sell my setup if you are interested, its a 7foot tank, built just like yours with 30%land and 70%water.
Im going to have to build a pond soon
