It Finally Happened

They're looking stunning. Thanks for the update pics :)

Motley corns usually have a "hypoish" look as the motley pattern diminishes the black pigmentation. True hypo motleys are much more pale.

Thanks, Westley. Yeah, some of them are super light, but only time will tell. I am looking at adding Lavender, Hypo, and one or two other genes over the next few seasons. Have BIG plans for them. So, for the http://corncalc.com lovers, try parents with het for amel, anery, motley, lavender, and hypo for now. I'm looking at the point where the corncalc refuses to work out the millions of combinations, and says so. I hope I've successfully planned out the next 9 years of breeding... And maybe a few surprises will pop up along the way.

Thanks Chantel. My biggest "needle" as far as a fourth gene working was this photo I took of two Normal hets. I just thought the contrast was way too much just to be a color difference to a normal.

I can always hope for that fourth gene... ;)

And just one last pic that I forgot about yesterday... "The Twins". Both male Snow poss het Motley.

Enjoy, and thanks again all. This "never get into it" species, has turned out to be a nice challenge for me. And will hopefully end in some nice eye-candy for everyone else.

Will be doing Amel het Anery, Motley x Anery Motley het Amel as well as Snow Motley to Snow Motley (female poss caramel, but probably only in my imagination), and both unknown for any other hets. So, it looks like it might be lucky packet clutches again this season.

HeHe My Brother, I liked that comment "Never Get Into Species", many of us got properly hooked onto Corns when we started playing with the Gene Calculator.
I also sort of lost my interest in Corns, but dagnabbit, through our regular conversations, guess what, I am now looking at a couple of Morphs to play around with.
The challenge for me is that I want to take the short route, and start out with adults, anyone have any Adult Morph Females for sale.

Thanks Roland, Westley, and Chantel for all the input, and anyone else I didn't mention. I think I bugged you three the most with these little terrors over the last few months.

I think that I am now confident to say that these are all a combination of the following genes : Amel, Anery, Hypo and Motley. I think Quad trait corns will soon become Octo trait, or even higher, as I progress towards my goal that some of you have heard whispers about. This just makes it 3 years easier for me now.

Thanks for all the compliments and help thus far! Keep an eye out here for some more smartie clutches, and surprises!

Rian, all I can say is that I may not be any kind of expert, but I have advised you via experience gained over a lengthy period of working with Corn Snakes.
It has always been a pleasure to assist anyone who asks, and especially as you are a Buddy, it is not a problem at all.
Please also know that anything else you may want to ask about, I am available and will answer to the best of my ability.

Thanks everyone. Always appreciate the input, and help!

Maybe someone could also try and give an explanation/hypothesis about this little chap's ventral markings? One of the busiest bellies I've ever seen...

Image

Chantel, as we discussed, maybe it is Masque and not Hypo. I had some American breeders who say it is most likely hypo, but the Masque gene fits the criteria better (except for the usual "mask" head pattern)... It would also explain the lovely thin (internet pics of masques show a much broader belly line), white ventral line separating the checkers; The head does not show the typical pattern for a masque, but it has the speckling/peppering; and the hypo-ish look can also be explained by the Masque gene... Or am I wrong there? I have noticed the lines are most prominent on the males, also an indicator of Masque...

So, this season I will be breeding Amel het Anery, Motley poss Hypo/Masque to Anery Motley het Amel, and two genetically unproven for hets snow motleys... This season is going to be a lucky packet of note again! I will keep you posted!

Thanks Roland, the girls are putting on the last of their weight, before their pre-breeding sheds, so I am holding thumbs that this season will be a bumper one.

Roland, here is my conundrum with the pairings this season...

I have four possible courses of breeding out this season, and I am leaning towards the first option, and the second one, but then my Amel het will be doing full-time work, and the snow motley male will be on extended vacation...

1...
Male: Amel het Anery, (poss) Hypo, Motley (if Hypo is present)
Female: Anery, Motley het Amel
Phenotype:
1 / 8 Motley het Anery, Amel (50% poss het. Hypo)
1 / 8 Amel het Anery, Motley (50% poss het. Hypo)
1 / 8 Normal het Anery, Motley, Amel (50% poss het. Hypo)
1 / 8 Anery het Motley, Amel (50% poss het. Hypo)
1 / 8 Amel, Motley het Anery (50% poss het. Hypo)
1 / 8 Anery, Motley het Amel (50% poss het. Hypo)
1 / 8 Snow ( Amel, Anery ) het Motley (50% poss het. Hypo)
1 / 8 Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley ) (50% poss het. Hypo)

2...
Male: Amel het Anery, (poss) Hypo, Motley (if Hypo is present)
Female: Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley ) (poss) het Caramel (if Caramel is present)
Phenotype:
1 / 4 Amel het Anery, Motley (50% poss het. Caramel), Hypo
1 / 4 Amel, Motley het Anery (50% poss het. Caramel), Hypo
1 / 4 Snow ( Amel, Anery ) het Motley (50% poss het. Caramel), Hypo
1 / 4 Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley ) (50% poss het. Caramel), Hypo

3...
Male: Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley )
Female: Anery, Motley het Amel
Phenotype:
1 / 2 Anery, Motley het Amel
1 / 2 Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley )

4...
Male: Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley )
Female: Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley ) (poss) het Caramel (if Caramel is present)
Phenotype:
1 / 1 Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Motley ) (50% poss het. Caramel)
