Burmese trying to lock tails

Burmese trying to lock tails

Postby cvanvollenstee » Mon Jun 06, 2011 8:51 am

Hello,

I have 1.1.0 Burmese pythons. They are almost 2 years old.

This weekend I saw the mal Burmese trying to lock tails with the female.

Their tails were next to each other and the male Burmese was scratching the female with his spurs.

But she did not want to know about anything. Now my question is the female has to let off some sort of pheromone

for the male to be interested. Why does she let it off if she has got no intention of breeding.

Here is some pics.

Congrats on the "possible" lock. She would not give off a scent if she was not interested in breeding. Sometimes it just takes some coaxing for them to allow the male access. How big is your female? Good luck with breeding them.

They keep on doing this. About every night. She is about 2m in size and only about 1.6 years old. And hee keeps on poking her with his spores trying to lock and she just moves away.

I only realised how small she is now that you mention it. I would not allow the male near her. She is too small to breed. Lets hope he did not get anything right.
