Rough scaled plated lizard

I managed to catch and take photos of one of my favourite indigenous lizards, Gerrhosaurus major.
Pictures were taken in the garden and kombuis of the farm house of where it was found(on a farm very close to Kruger national park). I found it at night sleeping under a pile of wood.
They are often seen basking at the entrance of the holes in abandoned termite mounds, where they stand high and proud.
I would love to keep a group of these in the future.

It is beautifull. I do agree with you, I would also not mind keeping some of them. My favourite is Gherrhosaurus flavigularis (yellow-throated plated lizard)
