Separating Bad Eggs

Separating Bad Eggs

Postby RoyalPython » Sat Nov 24, 2012 9:13 pm

Hi All

First clutch, I have candled the eggs and found that egg 3 is not viable but egg 2 is. How do i separate the two or is this not the right course of action? I am worried that the bad egg may effect the good one.

It won't affect healthy eggs. Don't worry about it. That egg could still be good.

That egg does not look that bad. Wait till it goes completely off.

you should easily be able to separate all three by teasing them apart. All you need to do is gently pull that egg away from the good one and you will see it will separate. Emphasis on the GENTLY though...

Just keep them for a little while longer and candle them again in a weeks time.

You can also use dental floss like a saw and use that to separate the eggs. Works like a charm. Just get someone to hold the eggs in position and then you gently pull the floss through.

I had a very dodgy egg in the middle of my Carpet Python eggs and decided to leave it there. This egg now looks much worse than it did in this pic and I still got 18 perfect babies that hatched this weekend. Don't worry too much about removing eggs.

Okay great I managed to remove it by gently pulling it. It came away with out any problems. Now the long wait. Here is a picture of the whole clutch.
There are two boob eggs as well. My female Fire mated with a normal and a lemon pastel.

I Have checked the eggs again and numbers 3,4 & 5 have gone bad no veins at all. I took them out and threw them away.
Eggs 1 & 2 are doing well plenty veins visible.
