Ball python hatchling morph identification

Ball python hatchling morph identification

Postby Lukas » Fri Jan 18, 2013 8:30 pm

Hi to all!
I recently hatched a clutch of ball pythons. The breed was Normal with Normal. There is 5 healthy, eating hatchlings from the clutch. Four of them are exactly the same colour and then there is one that is alot darker. First I thought that after the first shed he will change his colour but this photos is taken hours after both of them have shed. Is it just a darker normal Ball Python or can it be a different morph?
Hope the photos shows the colour difference clearly.
Thanks

Well done!

Some people just don't appreciate normal ball pythons. I am pretty sure that yours are all normals and the darker one helps prove how variable normals can be.

I agree kfc223, even hatchlings from the same clutch can vary in colour greatly.

Could this be because of temps? I was told that incubating temps contribute to patterns and slight colour changes in the clutch?

Congrats none the less :).

Thanks guys.
Yes I agree, definitely one of the best snakes to keep and even breed. I've had red tail boas, corns and house snakes. They all are not bad but the moment I got my first ball I got rid of all the others.
One of the eggs in the clutch was halfway rotten but it hatched so maybe it could be that hatchling. You never know.
