Fussy eater!

Fussy eater!

Postby Biosmith » Fri Jun 05, 2009 9:37 am

Hi,

My BHS juvi loves small lizards and the common Cape Dwarf Gecko's. If anybody in Pta have caught some of these I am willing to buy it of them. I will start him on pinks when he is bigger.

Thanks
Francois

Even a hatchling BHS would be able to eat a pinky. Buying any lizards is actually illegal so rather just switch him to mice and save yourself a lot of hassles.

Release him where you found him and get one that does eat pinks. There are hundreds of captive bred ones that you could get.

Are you using any sort of heating within the enclosure? I do not use any supplemental heating for my snakes and noticed that the indigenous ones stopped eating. I added a bit of heat recently and now they are eating again. Is he eating live or prekilled lizzards? You can try a live pink as well.

Biosmith cool him down and let him hibernate. When he wakes up he might be hungry enough to want to eat mice. That works with grey-banded kingsnakes, rosy boas and copperheads a lot.

Look on the forum for the process to put the snake into hibernation.

Hi BV and Rishaad,

Thanks, my other snakes are hibernating but I'm gonna take the BHS through winter without hibernation to bulk him up a bit. I got him onto pinkies by again braining the pink, but this time doing it properly. It worked! Thanks!

Regards

Thats great news :smt023 I'm cooling my snakes as well. When Spring comes it will be time to get my hatchling housies feeding and ready for new homes.
