Arboreal BHS

Arboreal BHS

Postby rolandslf » Fri Feb 10, 2012 11:53 am

I just had to post these pics of a BHS eating a Weaver Bird. This happened at work when a resident called to say that there was a snake trying to catch Birds.
I of course thought instantly of catching my first Boomer on the Estate in over 3 years of working here.
What happened is that the BHS actually went into the lower branches of a tree, caught the Weaver and promptly fell out of the tree.
It never let go of the Bird. I unfortunately only got my Camera delivered to me from my office, in time to catch the meal on film.
The Resident watched the whole episode with me, and asked me to leave the snake on her premises. Of course I agreed to this.

Here are some pics.

Great shots roland,

That's a great observation of a nocturnal species feeding actively during the day not to mention on a bird.

Awesome stuff Roland! Nice looking housie too! Surprised the resident wanted you to leave it there, not a common thing to happen!
