My snake has a lump

My snake has a lump

Postby sharkbait » Tue Sep 18, 2012 9:42 pm

Any idea what this is? The snake is very lively, just not eating. It's a 75cm male. It looks like the snake has swallowed a marble (size wise). it feels slightly hard but not stone hard if you know what i mean and it's slightly dark. about 5cm up from the anus.

I'd suggest housing them separately because housies breed like rabbits.

If it is a blockage soak him in warm water for a while and see what happens. We have performed a couple of little surgical operations on housies that have developed lumps and all has gone well. Those were just under the skin though, this looks a little more internal.

I cannot see the lump you are referring to. I would weigh the snake and just give him 1ml of medical liquid paraffin per 1 kg of body weight. That will loosen most blockages without causing any harm.

Just make it warm to the touch, try and put him in a smaller container put him in for 5 min take him out rest him for 10 min put him back in to his warm cage,do this about 3 times if it is a blockage it should past with in a day.

The water should be very luke warm. Warm to us is 36 degrees which is too hot for the snake.
