They finaly did it...

Hey guys.

Well I walked in to my snake room this morning switching on lights and checking cages.
Well when I got to my whitelip cage I saw the male and female doing the deed. :smt007 :smt008
I was over the moon as this is a first for me. The female is two years old she is the first venomous snake I got.

I struggled for long to get her eating and force fed her for a long time before she took food by herself.

I did not take photos as I am to afraid to disturb them. I cant wait for the little whitelip to pop out lol.
Will keep you updated. Will take photos of the pair tonight and post them tomorrow.

Keep well

You should have taken photos.
I have noticed that when snakes are actually hooked up, not much disturbs them.

O ok shucks. Lol well I was so excited I didn't want to do anything to make them stop... Oops sorry. Well there should be more mating in the next few days right?
It’s such a great feeling to see them actually mating and then realizing how far I came from the time I got her to actually having her mate.

Well you can separate them or not, It might help but not guaranteed.

It depends on her in the end ;)

If they are living together then they will mate as often as what she allows. I would look at moving the male out in any case because when she reaches the end of the gestation you need to remove him to avoid cannibalism.

Thanx BV yes I was thinking the same thing to just move him later on. One thing I cant seem to find on the net is gestation period. I had a look at an old post of Steve where he said the female dropped at 120 odd days. Is this the average period of gestation?

Hey guys.

Ok just an update on this female. First hook up I witnessed was on the 31st of March, the second was a month later on the 2nd of May, then the third was three weeks later on the 19th of March another hook up was on the 4th of June and the last on was on the 16th of June.

So where do you guys think I should start counting off from? She is looking quite fat from around mid body to tail so I am guessing she is gravid... Just not sure when she will drop. She shed about four weeks ago and she hasn't eaten for around three months now...

Would be great if she drops a few in the next few weeks.

Congrats!
Mine is got a belly full at the moment and they did the deed a long while ago - I think mine might be infertile - again as it has been a bit longer than the normal gestation period.
You know, you can touch a stick of dynamite, but if you touch a venomous snake it’ll turn around and bite you and kill you so fast it’s not even funny.
